The Balto® Lux specializes in treating shoulder injuries and congenital abnormalities in dogs. The canine glenohumeral (shoulder) brace is an excellent remedy for canines with restricted mobility due to shoulder complications. This ventilated compression brace, constructed with non-neoprene fabric, offers stability and assistance to your canine's shoulders without significantly impeding natural mobility.  This shoulder brace is a superb choice for dogs requiring extra assistance while sustaining an active way of life.

Learn How to Properly Fit the Balto Lux to Your Pet

Non-neoprene braces from Balto® are constructed from inferior materials; neoprene is notorious for harboring pathogens, offering insufficient support, and deteriorating rapidly. A range of dimensions guarantees a snug fit. A no-pinch product. Recommended for all ages, unless veterinarians advise otherwise. When applicable, apply the brace in proportionate increments of time ffor animals under the age of two to avoid potential growth disruptions.

Instructions for Use

Step 1
Prepare the brace by opening the straps around the elbows and over the front of the chest. Position the brace over the withers (Fig. 1).

Secure the Velcro straps around the elbow (Fig. 2).

Secure the Velcro straps over the front of the chest (Fig. 3).

Now secure the Velcro Strap underneath the chest (Fig. 4).

Step 5
The Velcro straps across the back must be tightened so that the rigid surfaces of the brace correctly compress the shoulders (Fig. 5).

Use the hobble straps if necessary (Fig. 6).

Step 7
Each strap can be adjusted in length depending on the size of your dog. Remove the Velcro ends and cut the strap to the desired length. Reapply the Velcro ends and tightly close with the Velcro strap to ensure the brace is stable (Fig. 7).

The blue hobble strap will limit the movement while the white hobble strap will stretch when walking (Fig. 8).

Balto® Canada will accept returns or requests for refunds for any product within 30 days of receipt of product. Refunds will only be honored if during the initial fitting the product is determined to be a poor fit, function, and/or the product is affecting the health or healing of the patient. Visual inspection may be required.

Returns must be in resale condition to receive a refund. This means that the brace cannot have: hair, wear, dirt, and/or modifications. If the packaging is damaged there will be a 10% restocking fee deducted from that product's refund. After we receive the brace back, we will evaluate its condition and then issue a refund. Balto® Canada does not offer refunds for refusal from your pet to wear the product. If the purchaser simply does not want to use the device for reasons other than those described above, Balto® Canada will not issue a refund.

We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.

Tips & Tricks

  • Allow up to two weeks for your pet to fully accept the brace
  • Wear the brace for 30 minutes a day, increasing 30 minutes each day after, for up to 12 hours
  • Consult your veterinarian for specific instructions on when to wear your brace
  • Remove the brace when your animal sleeps at night
  • Inspect your pet for signs of skin irritation. If any are present, contact your veterinarian
  • In addition to wiping the brace clean, keep skin and fur that comes into contact with the brace clean
  • Inspect your brace regularly for any damage

Maintenance & Repair

A clean brace not only prevents infections, irritation, and a stinky smell; but it also allows your brace to last longer. To help support the longevity of your bracing device, here are some of our tips on how to properly clean your orthopedic bracing:

  1. Remove as much hair as possible from any Velcro® frequently to prevent compaction.
  2. Use lint roller or lightly adhesive tape to remove hair from the material of the brace.
  3. By hand, use warm water and a gentle cleansing soap to remove any stains and odors.
  4. Rinse soap thoroughly from the brace
  5. Hang to dry. Once the brace is completely dry, it is ready for use!
